Forget Not His Benefits

Psalms 68:19  Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.

Psalms 103:-
1 – “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2  Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth  all thy diseases;
4  Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who  crowneth thee with lovingkindness  and tender mercies;
5  Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that  thy youth is renewed like the eagle's”

The word  “Bless” here means  “to speak well of, or to  utter an appreciation.” God is worthy of our gratitude, adoration, appreciation, thanks, and our highest praises.

Forget not all His benefits unto you. Have you counted up your benefits lately? Your benefits from the Lord?

Do you realize how much you have?

And not just material possessions but in every way. We are blessed by God in many ways!
Every good and perfect gift is from above!

We sometimes forget the gracious hand that blesses us every day with choice bounties!  All the benefits of God are there for you to enjoy. It’s up to you to establish them firmly in your heart so you can forget them not!

November to Remember #N2R

Beloved, in this our month of November to Remember the first thing that came to my mind was what will God be doing for me this November 2016 that will be worthy of remembrance.

I also thought of what I could do for God that will be worthy of mention in this month of November 2016, worthy of remem-brance like the woman with the Alabaster Box - Mark 14:9.

I researched the concept of Remembrance in the Bible and noted that God never really forgot anyone that HE suddenly would have the need to remember them....Mathew 28:20, Isaiah 41:10  and  Isaiah 49:15-16 rather when God remembers us it is for a divine and memorable blessing that lasts forever.

I also found out that there are many people in the Bible and many things in the Bible that God remembered like Joseph (Gen 41:38-45), David (Psalm 132:1), Noah (Gen 8:1), Hannah (1 Sam 1:19),  Rachel (Gen 30:22), His covenant (Exodus 2:24) etc.  

Brethren it takes remembrance from God to allow plenty testimo-nies from us that encourages God’s children that in turn glorifies God’s Name. God will always remember us in Jesus Name.

God Remembered Noah

Genesis 8:1 – “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the
cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged”

God remembered Noah, resulting in Him moving promptly to action by drying up
the flood of judgment. All the animals and his family that were with him were remembered.

For Noah’s sake, all those identified with him were kept safe from the ongoing calamities and disasters, and the water of stagnation was made to dry up. Since God in His faithfulness remembers us, we must also remember Him through our faith.

Most times when God is busy doing His work in our lives, we feel He has forgotten about us, and He has broken His promises. At that moment, we feel like a child that his/her parents have abandoned. But the good news is that God never abandons His children.

Your prayers, services, and sacrifice shall provoke your remembrance in the court of heaven as it did for Noah. Be expectant for when you are remembered by God, no human can forget you.

Having said all that, the big question is; after God remembers us, do we remember Him?

Remember the Times

Think back, recall, recollect, recapture…bring back the memories…

Deuteronomy 8:1–2 “All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers. And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no”

As we get to the end of the year 2016, it is important that we take a look at what has been happening in our lives so far. So much has happened this year. Some of them made us happy. Others made us sad. Whatever your experiences have been this year, it is important to reflect and make sense of what & where you’ve come from, where you’re going, and where you want to get to.

In the scripture above, God instructed Israel not to forget the important things that have happened to them. When we forget our experiences, we fail to glorify God and appreciate what He does for us. Some times manna came, and other times manna ceased. But all for experiences sake, so that we may grow thereby.

As you take time to reflect on these soberly, His grace will be upon you to look back and be thankful to Him. Remember your journey. We have all been and are all on a journey. Remember the times and…Be very Thankful

Worthy of Double Honor

David was one of the leaders in the Bible. God called him “a man after His own heart”. The Bible said at one point he had a craving for water, and just said it out, and three men broke out to go get him the water without hesitation.

What an honor?  Our ministers are  craving for members that will be there to  support them, raise their hands up. They  want to know that their teams are with  them. You should not let anybody criticize,  murmur, nor talk bad about the ministers, defend them at any moment.

Why do we need  to honor them? Because it is God that put them  there. The position you don't  honor, you can't get there and  the anointing you don't respect can't work for you.

Malachi 1:6. They carry many burdens that you know nothing about. It does not take long for people to get discouraged if they are not acknowledged for their fine efforts.

Jesus provided opportunities for people to express their public appreciation for the good job done by their spiritual leaders. 1st Thessalonians 5:12-13.

They persevered through many discouraging days. Galatians 6:9. They still stay in the front line despite the attack from the enemy. They have not given up.

Can you appreciate, celebrate and honor them for that? If truly they are your ministers, where is their honor?

The Lord bless and honor you as you honor the ministers, in Jesus Name.

Believe His Prophets & You'll Prosper

2nd Chronicles 20:20 the word of God says “…if you believe in God you will be established, if you believe His prophet you will prosper”.  And in Hosea 12:13 the bible says that “it is by prophet that God delivered Israel out of Egypt and it is by another prophet that Israel was preserved” When you handle anointing properly you will prosper, you will be preserved.

Numbers16:1-35 shows us an interesting account. Some people gathered themselves together  against Moses. The leader of the rebellious  group was called Korah and his immediate col- league was Dathan and Abi-ram. They said to  Moses, “are you the only elder in this  town?” You hear from God we also hear from  God. Is this ministry your family business?

You Moses, you are the prophet, your elder  brother Aaron you made him  priest, your sister Miriam, you  ask her to lead the choir; you  want to turn the church to family business. But humble and  gentle Moses said I am not the one doing it, God sent me to do it.

Ha!, God has sent us too, they said. Then Moses said in that case let God decide.  And God said gather people together and those who are on your side let them stay on your side and those people who are on the side of the other, let them stay at their side.

Suddenly the ground opened and swallowed the rebels.  If you respect divine anointing you will prosper, if you mishandle divine anointing, the price can be very high. “…if you believe in God you will be established, if you believe His prophet you will prosper”.

The Importance of Bridling our Tongue

Text :- James 3:8-9

The Tongue 

This is the movable organ in the floor of the mouth in humans that functions in eating, tasting and speaking. It has been said that the "tongue" is one of the most exercised muscles of our body. It has also been estimated that in a typical week, the average person will speak enough words to fill a 500 page book! 

The Bible makes us to understand that:-

The Tongue is powerful. It has a power so great it is capable of producing life or death depending on how it is used. Proverbs 18:21

For the Christian, the use of  the tongue must be a matter of careful forethought and discipline. James 3:5-6, James 1:26. It is deception for any of us to think that Jesus can be be Lord over our life without becoming Lord over our Tongue. The bridle is a leather harness and bit placed in a horse's mouth to control it. In the same manner, Christians must allow the Holy Spirit to bridle their tongues and bring restraints to their words. 

"Speech is an index of the mind" therefore, much can be said of a person's character  by the way he uses his tongue, for Jesus said in a Matthew 12;34 that "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." 

Sins of the Tongue

As Christians we steer clear of the more obvious sins but don't practice that same diligence in bringing our Tongue under the Lord's subjection. 

The lying tongue 

A lying tongue is a misuse of a deadly weapon. Proverbs 25:18, john 8:44 

The Flattering Tongue

Flattery is a sin of the Tongue, it's a form of lying. Psalm 5:9

Hypocritical Tongue 

They use their tongues to sing praises and blessings to God and turn around to use same to speak evil of one another. James 3:9-10

The proud tongue

These types of Christians are so full of themselves Psalm 12:3-4

The Boasting Tongue

Glorifying oneself and speaking of oneself with pride. James 3:5, Galatians 5:26

If you must boast, you are encouraged to boast in the Lord Jeremiah 8:23-24

The overused Tongue

Some Christians talk too much Ecclesiastes 5:3 says that " a fool's voice is known by multitude of words"'

The Swift Tongue

Some are guilty of speaking too swiftly when they really need to wait before saying anything Proverbs 18:13

The Backbiting Tongue 

Backbiters use their tongue against you when you are not present. A backbiter would rather talk about the preacher than to the preacher.  Proverbs 6:19

The Talebearing Tongue

Talebearing runs contrary to Christian edification. Proverbs 18:8

The Cursing tongue

A great number of professing Christians curse regularly. James 3:10-11

The Piercing tongue

Proverbs 12:18. The Bible commands Christians in Colossians 4:6 to have their speech dominated by grace. 

The Silent tongue 

A silent tongue is a sinful tongue because we have been commanded to speak up and with was for the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 1:8. We, as Christians have an obligation to tell others about Christ.

Why Should We Bridle Our Tongue

1.  Our words have power - Proverbs 18:21

2.  We will be judged by our words - Matthew:-      12:36-37

3.  When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise - Proverbs    10:19

4. The world is watching us - Titus 2:8, 2 Timothy 4:12 

Taming the tongue

James 3:8. The  Tongue can only be tamed by the grace of God. Psalm 141:3 When we surrender our weakness in the area of our tongue to the lord, then can we have His strength to bridle it. 

Take your weaknesses to God

If you realize that your tongue is out of control , you need to allow God to change the attitude of your heart and your mouth, so they can be pleasing to him. Psalm 19:14. His grace and mercy is available for all manner of sins that we confess to Him. 1 John 1:9, but we must also forsake them Proverbs 28:13. 

Take up the sword of the spirit 

We need to arm ourselves with the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17. The more Word we put inside us, the more Word will come out of our mouths. Luke 6:45

Chose your words carefully

Words have power. They can hurt and they can bless. We need to pay attention to every word and phrase that come out of our mouth. Our words have supernatural power—power that changes circumstances and shapes destinies.

Watch your thoughts

In order to control our Tongue, we must first control our thoughts. Right and wrong thinking is the the basis for controlling our words. That is why the enemy bombards our mind with evil thoughts. 2 Corinthians 10:5 . We need to get our minds thinking scripturally. 

Commendable uses of the tongue

Let us consider some right ways to use the Tongue. 

The praising Tongue 

A Christian should use his tongue for praise and thanksgiving to God. Hebrew 13:15, Psalm 34:1

The Gracious Tongue

A christian should use his tongue to edify. With our words, we have the power to bring healing and encouragement to others. We can purposely order our conversations and speak carefully chosen words of God that will not only produce victory in our own lives but in the lives of others as well. It is our privilege and responsibility as Christians to speak forth positive life-giving words in a world immersed in negativity Proverbs 12:25, Proverbs 16:24

The praying Tongue

A christian should use his tongue for prayers. Paul tell us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 to pray without ceasing. 

The preaching Tongue

The Christian should use his tongue to preach the gospel. It is the responsibility of ever Christian to teach people to believe and obey the gospel of Christ, and also to help restore the erring brethren. 

Conclusion 

Let us be mindful of what we say and how we say it and make a pledge unto the Lord to speak right. The words of our mouth have control over our lives, whether we like it or not or whether we believe it or not. Like a rudder controls the direction of a ship, your tongue controls the direction of your life. God made man to be steward not only over the earth but over our own mouth as well. We are our own prophets. What we say today impacts our tomorrow. 

Finally, the delivery of our word must also be honoring to God exemplary before the world. To be an example "in word" involves our choice of words, the content of our words and the delivery of our words. "For I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned"  Matthew 12:36-37
