April, Our Month of Focus On The Family

From Our Pastor's Desk.

Welcome to this our new Month of Focus on the Family, in Jesus name.

God established the family as the most basic unit of the society. He blessed and told the first family to multiply, replenish and subdue the earth - Genesis 1:28.

This was God’s first instruction to man. They were created to form family relationships.

This stated purpose of God in creation indicates that He considers a godly family of utmost priority in the world.

A Household/Family is the primary group or unit consisting of a man and a woman. If God wills, children could be added. Gen. 2:18 – “The LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet”

A Family could also be a group or related things. E.g. The church,, we are a family and we are one through Jesus Christ.  Godliness is from the word eusebeia, which means “the fear or reverence of God”. Thus, a godly family is a family that is well devoted to and well pleasing to the Lord.

This month, as we focus on the Family, God will grant us grace & make our families (and church family) faithful to Him in all respects. Our homes will have great and solid marriages, conducive for raising godly children.

A family that would be a great example for others to imitate and follow, in Jesus Name.

AMEN.

Part 1 - Why Am I Getting Married Too?

By Pastor 'Deji Adewale

"I DO' - Before & After Series

Family is not a concept of man. It’s God’s plan and He loves families. First established in the garden of Eden, families come about as a result of marriage, union of two separate souls coming together to blend their pasts and create a future.

Though it’s ok to remain single, you’d make heaven but marriage is sooooo beautiful. That is, marriage gotten right.

So, if God is calling you to marry, He wants to join you to someone with whom you can build a strong, godly home, filled with love and grace – a home that exalts Jesus Christ as Lord.

But people get married for lots of reasons, some good, others not so good. Many marriages fail today because the couple does not understand either the purpose or the principles of successful marriage. They simply, lack knowledge.

No one should ever get married without first carefully and clearly answering the question, “WHY?” Deliberate and thoughtful consideration in advance will prevent a lot of problems, heartache, and regret later on.

Knowing why you want to marry can confirm your good decision and help you avoid a bad decision. As we chew over & contemplate getting married, I pray that we follow the Lord’s direction in every aspect, for “heaven-on-earth” homes, in Jesus Name.

You will have good success this 2017.

Remain blessed.

Shalom.

Light in the Night

By Pastor 'Deji Adewale

There are many biblical interpretations of night.  1st Thessalonians 5:5-8 tells us that sins are committed in the night or darkness - “For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled” Night time is generally an unpleasant time.

It is a time of sadness and weeping for some (Psalm 30:5), wearisome to the afflicted, lonely, favorable to the purpose of the wicked, wild beasts go forth in search of prey during the night, time of stumbling, of spiritual darkness, seasons of severe calamities, of spiritual desertion, even death.

Night time could be bitter, hellish, unpalatable, and painful. But thank God that those in their nighttime are not left alone, they are not hopeless. Zechariah 14:7 says – “At night time it shall be light”. There is light in the dark tunnel.

Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we shall fear no evil, for He is with us; His rod and His staff they comfort us. Are you going through a nighttime experience right now?

Things are just not working your way; you weep inwardly…Arise, shine, my brothers & sisters, for thy light has come.  “At night time it shall be light”

You will have good success this 2016.
Remain blessed.
Shalom.

The F's of Fruitfulness

Nehemiah 4:6—”So we built the wall and the whole wall was joined together to half its height; for the people had a mind to work”.

Fortitude means Strength of mind that enables one to endure adversity with courage. It is determination, perseverance, patience, and resolve. It refers to stick-to-it-iveness, hanging tough, keeping the focus and staying the course. When you stick to a course, no matter what, obstacles are bound to give way.

When we are determined and in God’s will/purpose, then 1st John 5:14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”  Maybe you used to be more faithful. Maybe you used to be more involved. Maybe you used to give more of your time. Maybe you used to tithe. Maybe you used to teach.

Then you got discouraged. Then you slowly but surely bailed out. It’s time to look up. It’s time to serve with determination. Where discouragement abounds, determination is the answer. Hang in there! Don’t give up! Don’t give in! There is no per-fect life. There are no perfect churches.

The question is not will we face discouragement but how will we face discour-agement!  Press on. Nothing in the world can take the place of fortitude. Remember that old adage used by the Marine Corps?

It says, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." That’s a quality we need for increase & fruitfulness.

You will have good success this 2016.

Remain blessed. Shalom.
