Abounding With Thanksgiving

Colossians 2:7; “Rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein in Thanksgiving '' The Dictionary definition of “Abound” is “to exist in large numbers or amount” and “Thanksgiving” is “the expression of gratitude, especially to God. ''

Notice that the passage identified three (3) key characteristics or the category of people expected to abound in thanksgiving. It goes without saying that this passage is referring to Christians. Therefore, the life of a Christian should be one of thanksgiving, rejoicing and gratitude to God!

1 Thessalonians 5:18; “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. He expects us to be thankful no matter the circumstance since we have given our lives to Him and trust Him because He is a good God and his love endures forever -1 Chronicles 16:34.

Countless times the bible admonishes us to be cheerful, be filled with joy, rejoice, be thankful; these are all synonyms of abounding in thanksgiving.

Brethren, abounding in thanksgiving may not be palatable always, Jesus Himself when He was on earth said- ‘in the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous (be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy); I have overcome the world” - John 16:33.

We have come to the throne of grace and He shall strengthen us to abound in thanksgiving, in Jesus mighty Name. Amen.
