#LoveThySelfie

By Sis Biola Adeleye

When Jesus talked about the greatest commandment of all, He quoted Deuteronomy 6:5 and said we are to love God with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our might.

But He also added the second greatest commandment in Mark 12:31 – “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” The second command, the latter, is worthy of note. There's something important here that we shouldn’t miss.

How can someone love another person if they don't love themselves? “You cannot give away something you don't have in you.”  One must have a measure or degree of love for one-self before one can love one’s neighbor.

The yard-stick of the command is the love for ourselves. It’s that yardstick we use as measure to love others. We all need to accept ourselves, embrace our personalities and even our imperfections, knowing that although we are not where we need to be, we are making progress.

Jesus died for us because we have weaknesses and imperfections, and we don't have to reject ourselves because of them. God wants us to love ourselves and enjoy how He's made us! The Bible indicates that it is proper, even necessary, to love yourself. Such love includes caring for yourself, respecting yourself, and having a sense of self-worth.

Rather than glorifying selfishness, the Bible puts self-love in its rightful place. The Lord will take away every spirit of self-pity & low self-esteem in our lives, in Jesus Name. Amen.

You will have good success this 2018.
Remain blessed.
Shalom.
