From Our Pastor's Desk
1st Samuel 11:2 – “And Nahash the A mmonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel”
The entire account of 1st Samuel 11 is about Nahash, the ammonite besieging Jabesh-Gilead – a town on the East of Jordan. The people of the land were willing to serve Nahash and requested of him to sign a covenant/treaty with them.
But listen to what Nahash said above. The defenseless elders of Jabesh-Gilead responded “And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days' respite that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee”
To this, Nahash raised no objection. Where on earth would they be able to secure help? Nahas would have told himself. The messengers from Jabesh went to Gibeah and narrated their ordeal, upon hearing which the people of Gibeah lifted up their voices and wept.
Even though this was quite kind of the people, it fell far short of what the people of Jabesh needed. They didn’t need sympathizers or co-weepers. What they needed was help.
When Saul (of Gibeah) heard the news, the Spirit of God came upon him and he mobilized the men of Israel and Judah for war. The messengers were then sent back to Jabesh with this message: "Thus you shall say to the men of Jabesh Gile-ad:'Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have help.'"
For those of us that have knowingly or otherwise, covenanted with the crafty Nahash-es of this world, the Lord of Host will break such covenants, in the name of Jesus. The Nahashes of this world are determined to thrust you in darkness, put you in utter nakedness and disgrace.
To whom have we gone for help? Soothsayers? Stargazers? Palm Readers? Psychics? Witch Doctors? I break every evil covenant, evil oath and treaty, and eveil pronouncements with any Nahash, over our lives & that of our loved ones by the Blood of Jesus.
The Help of the helpless, Jehovah Sabaoth will arise to release us from any evil covenant of the crafty, in Jesus Name. AMEN.
You will have good success this 2019.
Remain blessed.
Shalom
