Guard Your Victory

By: Deaconess Florence Oyedeji

When I first heard the theme of this month, it reminded me of the quote from late Dr. Martin Luther King “Free at last, free at last, thank God we are free at last!”
The way it is worded shows a panting, a desire, a long-awaited hope that had now been realized. VICTORY AT LAST!

Just as we’ve been en-joined in the Bible to work out our Salvation with fear and with trembling (Phil. 2:12), we also need to guard our Victory (Eph. 6:13). There are divers ways one can lose one’s victory.

However, I have this urge within me to speak about the sin of “BACKSLIDING” (Jer. 8:5, Pro. 14:14; 26:11) Using the example of Apostle Peter. He was an epitome of The Mighty that fell during the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ (Mark 14:72)

Only a believer can backslide, because it involves an initial acceptance of Christ then a subsequently falling away from his precepts (For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them -2 Peter 2:21).

It is a great enemy of Believers. Most of us don’t pay much attention to it, because it can be very subtle.  It’s so subtle that sometimes even the believer who is engaged in the act may not even be fully aware of the fact until it’s too late. We shall not lose our victory, in Jesus Name. AMEN.

You will have good success this 2017.

Remain blessed.

Shalom.
