For Divine Performance, Be a God Pleaser

By Pastor 'Deji Adewale

One big concern young people have is being accepted by their peers. As we reflect back on our childhood years, we might laugh at how we changed our appearance in order to fit in the crowd.

Unfortunately, some of us also did things against our own conscience. The young will start hanging out with the wrong people.  But 1st Corinthians 15:33 says, “Evil company corrupts good habits.” They might think their so-called friends would like them more.

The fact is you can never please everybody, period.  Fortunately, there’s only One Person that we need to seek the approval of. Regardless of what other people say or do, God will never leave you nor forsake you if you are in covenant with Him.

Jesus said in John 8:29; “…The Father has not left me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” Obeying God can also bring us favor with people.  Proverbs 16:7 says, “When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even His enemies to be at peace with him.”

Galatians 1:10 (NIV) – “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? …If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ” Matthew 6:1 (MSG) - “Be especially careful when you are trying to be good so that you don’t make a performance out of it. It might be good theater, but the God who made you won’t be applauding”

Brethren, ladies & gentlemen, children of God, Vessels of Mercy, let us strive to please God rather than men. If you’re tempted to be a people-pleaser, the sermon of today shares four good reasons to quit worrying so much about what people think of you.

You will have good success this 2016.
 Remain blessed.
Shalom.
