From Our Pastor's Desk
Matthew 11:12 - And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
For those of us who were not sleeping during our science classes, especially Physics, and were attentive, we were taught that the laws of inertia developed in the 17th century by Galileo and further expounded by Newton states an object will remain stagnant unless/until force is applied to it
Which essentially means that nothing moves on its own, everything in life moves as a response to some force. The above verse attests to that (faith supporting science, right?) The verse is not propagating violence, nor encouraging it.
To be violent means to act with or marked by or result from great force or energy or emotional intensity. The scripture tells us that there existed an exceptional desire and forcefulness from people thronging for a blessing, during the days of John the Baptist, like never before.
Kingdom of Heaven where these blessings come from was (and still is) experiencing these resemblance of “an army trying to besiege a city”, not literally violent. And only those that are eager enough, forceful enough, determined enough, will take the blessings and spoils of the “city”. Jesus’ statement that “the kingdom of heaven suffers violence” is a graphic picture of the enthusiasm and excitement generated by John the Baptist’s and Jesus’ teaching.
People were hungry for the truth, their blessings, their joy & peace, and would not be kept away. Until you’re ready to fight for what’s yours, you’re not ready to live. Pray With Me - Lord, teach my hands to make war. Psalms 144:1.
May my warfare bring me treasures, in Jesus mighty Name. Amen.
You will have a great turn-around this 2020.
Remain blessed.
Shalom.
