Why We Reject Godly Counsel

By Deacon Ike Mbila

In this our month of “Godly Counsel” we must make a self determined effort to remember all we have been taught on the benefits of accepting a godly counsel.

We must constantly remember that we have been taught to ensure that all counsel given to us must be backed up by the word of God.

We must also remember that there is a great consequence that comes with not following godly counsel - 2 Chronicles 22:6-7.

Please know that the real reason we all sometimes refuse to adhere to godly counsel is because of “demonic influence.”  Most Christians will argue that once you are born again as laid out in John 3:16-18 that satan can no longer have any influence over you.

Even Jesus Himself was tempted to turn a stone into bread; Peter was influenced by satan when he said Christ should not die, and when he denied Christ three times.

It might appear that we will do differently if we were Peter, I actually defer because the godly counsel we are charged with in the Bible today; we are failing woefully in them because of “demonic influence”.

We forsake the gathering together of brethren; we refuse to tithe; our anger issues, our bitterness issues, our drinking and smoking binges, our harlotry, idolatry, envy, jealousy, greed, pride etc. All these are areas of manifestation of ungodly counsel, where we have failed God.

The Lord will help us make a case for adapting good godly counsel, in Jesus Name. Amen.

You will have good success this 2018.

Remain blessed.

Beware of Ungodly Counsels

From Our Pastor's Desk

First, God instructed….Genesis 2:17 – “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die”

Then satan counseled…Genesis 3:4-5 – “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil”

That was the first ungodly counsel. The listening to, and the obedience of that counsel led to the death/fall of man. Spiritual death. Separation from God.

Isaiah 59:1-2 –“...But your iniquities have separated between you & your God, & your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear”. If our first father & mother had listened to & obeyed God, rather than obeying satan, maybe we would not be where we are today.

We could still have been enjoying the blessedness of Eden, and having deep spiritual relationship and closeness with God, walking with us in the cool of the day.

But now that we have been reconciled back to Him through the redemption of our sinful flesh & nature by the shed Blood of Jesus Christ, we must be careful & wary of listening to ungodly counsels, so that our souls will not be corrupted.

I rebuke every ungodly counsel that may seek to deceive, pervert & corrupt the souls of God’s beloved, in Jesus Name. Amen.

You will have good success this 2018.
Remain blessed.
Shalom.

Woman of Good Understanding

By Sis. Damola Alabi

Prov. 14:1 – “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands” A woman of good understanding is described here as a builder, a productive woman, a woman who teaches her children the way of the Lord.

Timothy’s father was a pagan, but his mother and grandmother thought him everything he knew about the scriptures since he was a child.

The Bible describes the husband of Abigail as a foolish man, but Abigail used her understanding and wisdom to save her life and that of her husband.

Hannah trusted God and understood that when the time comes, she would have her own child. 1st Samuel 1:1-25 tells us about how her husband’s wife would always humiliate her because she was
barren. But Instead of fighting or foolishly packing out of her husband’s house as some
of us today might do, she patiently waited on the Lord until her joy came.

Nobody remembers the names of Peninnah’s children, but we all know about Samuel the great prophet of God.

May the Lord grant us the spirit of understanding so that we can fulfill God’s purposes for our lives and homes, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Godly Counsel From a Nobody

From Our Pastor's Desk

1st Corinthians 1:27-29 - “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound
the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence”

Many of us have lost our recovery, restoration,
lost opportunities, blessings and so on, because
of pride and “too much wisdom.”

Some of us think you can’t get help from those that are seemingly “not wise” enough, poorer than us, or from those that serve us. God has promised to send us help on a regular basis.

These help will come as at when due, for God is very faithful. However, we may never be too sure of the vessels that will carry the help –
either the honorable or the despicable.
Therefore, we should beware of how we treat people who come across our way. The
despicable are capable of carrying our most critical help from above. The “nobodies,
small-fries, lightweights” etc.

We were created to live interdependently. We need one input or the other from others to facilitate our fulfillment in life. Unarguably, the inputs others have made into our lives are the reasons we are where we are today, and we need quite some more of such to attain our maximum. The way and manner these inputs are packaged is another ball game entirely.

We ask for grace never to despise those that are seemingly “small”; for from them
could come our Godly counsels for greatness, in Jesus Name.

You will have good success this 2018.
Remain blessed. Shalom.
